In general, what functions are included in the BMS system of lithium batteries?

The BMS system, or battery management system, is a system for the protection and management of lithium battery cells. It mainly has the following four protection functions:

1. Overcharge protection: When the voltage of any battery cell exceeds the charge cut-off voltage, the BMS system activates overcharge protection to protect the battery;

2. Over-discharge protection: When the voltage of any battery cell is lower than the discharge cut-off voltage, the BMS system starts over-discharge protection to protect the battery;

3. Overcurrent protection: When the BMS detects that the battery discharge current exceeds the rated value, the BMS activates the overcurrent protection;

4. Over-temperature protection: When the BMS detects that the battery temperature is higher than the rated value, the BMS system starts over-temperature protection;

In addition, the BMS system also has the data collection of the internal parameters of the battery, the external communication monitoring, the internal balance of the battery, etc., especially the equalization function, because there are differences between each battery cell, which is inevitable, leading to the voltage of each battery cell cannot be exactly the same when charging and discharging, which will have a greater impact on the life of the battery cell over time, and the BMS system of the lithium battery can solve this problem well.According actively balance the voltage of each cell to ensure that the battery can store more power and discharge, and greatly extend the life of the battery cell.
